Gaya Blue Scarf
Made of ultra-light Bengal cotton and accented with hand-stitched geometric motifs, it takes a day and half for an ustad (master weaver) to make one of these scarves! Feel great knowing that everytime you wear this gorgeous scarf you have enabled a girl in India to attend a school partially built with your contribution.
76 x 27 in.
TECHNIQUE: BENGAL JAMDANI WEAVE
Fine cotton fibers are painstakingly drawn and spun into a slender muslin yarn, which is then dyed, washed and dried along the riverbanks. Hundreds of little motifs are then individually hand-stitched using the Jamdani technique while the yarn is being loomed in a process over two thousand years old.
